Weekly route · Yakima

Weekly lawn mowing in Yakima that holds its stripes.

A set day every week: mowed, edged, trimmed and blown clean, with the stripes their customers stop to look at.

Chapter 01

Why a lawn falls apart between mows

Yakima summers are hot and dry, and cool-season grass grows fast in May and June, then stalls and stresses in July. Skip a week in the fast stretch and the blade you cut off the next time is twice as long. The lawn goes yellow where too much was taken off at once, and the clippings sit in clumps.

Mowing on a loose schedule also trains the grass the wrong way. It gets scalped one visit and shaggy the next, and the weeds that like a thin, stressed lawn move in. A fixed day fixes most of it before anything else is done.

How the pass is run

The crew mows in straight, overlapping passes and changes direction from visit to visit, so the grass does not lean and the wheels do not cut ruts. Where the light catches the nap, that is what makes a lawn read as striped. The mower deck stays at a height that suits the season rather than one number all year.

Then comes the part people notice from the street. The edges along the walk and drive are cut clean, the trim is done around fences, trees and beds, and everything is blown off the concrete. You get a yard that looks finished, not just shorter.

Chapter 03

What to do between visits

Keep the sprinklers running on their normal schedule and let the crew know if a head is broken or throwing water on the walk. In the hottest weeks a lawn does better with deeper, less frequent watering than a daily sprinkle, and a dry brown patch is worth a call before it spreads.

If the yard needs more than mowing, fertilizer, weed control or a cleanup, say so on the estimate call. Those sit on the same service list, so one crew can run them all.

"Abel and Sons have taken care of our lawn for 3 years. They do a great job and are reliable and professional." Teresa Hanses, Google review

Their own work

One hillside, mowed in rows.

This one is shot from the mower seat, down a sloped lawn cut in clean rows. Customers keep saying the same two things about the route: it shows up when it is supposed to, and it is quick. Sora Blu wrote that the service is “always fast and efficient”, and Teresa Hanses has had the same crew for three years.

Each visit is mowed, edged, trimmed and blown clean. Their own write-up promises razor-sharp edges and a lawn that makes the neighbors look, and the striped lawns in their photos are what that looks like on a good week.
